Full Bio Information
Frank E Capler , Jr.
Right Illustrious Grand Captain of the GuardBiography
I was born on May 12, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The first of 4 children of Frank E. Capler and Mary Alice Capler. My sister Mary died in 1997 at age of 36. I have a sister Beverly Stout and brother William Capler. I was lucky in marrying Cheryl Capler 1983. We were married for 23 years until her death in 2007. We have 2 daughters (Allison, Sarah). I have been blessed that my parents traveled on vacation to many parts of the United States and parts of the World. I enjoy Country Line dancing and think I am pretty good at it.
I graduated from Southport High School 1975. Received a bachelor’s degree, in Computer Technology from Purdue University at Indianapolis 1980 (IUPUI).
I worked as a floor guard at the United Skates of America on the Southside of Indianapolis for 2 years (from 1975-1977). I worked there before the skating rink opened. I played Uncle Skates for a while and Officer Friendly in morning skates.
I worked at Burger Chef on the Southside of Indianapolis for 4 years (from 1977-1980). I became a group leader for the store while going to college and became a Freemason.
I worked for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at Gate 6 for 33 years. I became an assistant Gate Captain to my father. I asked for a ticket from Jim Hurtubise coming into the track in a beat-up VW Minibus with a shack on the back half.
I started in 1981 working for the State of Indiana at Workforce Development as a Computer Programmer and now Database Administrator for 40+ years.
I am the 4th generation on my father’s side and 5th generation on my mother’s side in Freemasonry. My family members have been very busy in many of the organizations. Which has formed the basis of my life and tradition to participate in. My Great-Great Grandfather was Raised 1868 in Ireland Lodge No. 388 in Jasper Indiana.
Freemasonry has been a wonderful journey for me. I have met so many wonderful and memorable people. Had many special fond memories. A German member at Prospect. Sang a German lullaby to me during a degree. Or being escorted in the Grand Lodge of England to the Dais. For the St. Luke’s #44, 250th year celebration in front of 400 Mason’s. Just to mention a few.
